FREE Community Event For Single Moms

The Transforme staff along with the help from the community of San Diego, volunteers and other local organizations, worked together to put an event exclusively for single mothers with the sole purpose of celebrating single moms for the awesome job they’re doing.
The event was held on June 8th, from 5:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. at the Transforme offices.
It is the first time the Transforme project organizes this event and it was definitely a success!
There was an attendance of more than 30 single moms and 20 volunteers that helped put the event together. During the event there was childcare offered and different activities going on such as games in which moms were able to receive gifts. Some of the gifts that were given were coffeemaker, Sony earphones, cookware set and cup sets.

There was also a time for appetizers and there were different beauty stations where moms got their nails, hair and makeup done; everything free of charge.
Toward the end of event, staff and volunteers honored moms by standing up and giving them a round of applause that lasted 60 seconds. To conclude the event, motivational speaker, Katya Mora, shared some of her life experiences with the moms.
Through her message Mora encouraged and empowered the women in the room. The women who attended the event left the place feeling loved, welcomed and motivated. They also left with three outfits, shoes, purses, and totes (donated by Bill Howe Plumbing) filled with food (donated by Centro Comunitario Lo Mejor del Trigo San Diego).

This mom and her daughter (not pictured) were going through a hard time, with her daughter dealing with lupus and living in shelters, they were able to attend the event. They received love from the team and donations. If you feel like helping these two brave women out please contact us.
This event brought awareness to single mothers, it encouraged the community to donate and it also allowed many to help moms in need. Priscilla Amezcua, the President of Transforme Project stated,
“It felt like christmas in summer!”
she also added,
“I am so thankful for all the volunteers and community that came together in such a loving way and I’m also grateful that through this event we were able to spread more awareness about our organization.”
She said that the organization’s vision is to rescue victims from bullying and depression and to give women an opportunity to see life from a different perspective toward life vision, hope and influence. At the event she also honored her late grandmother Beatriz Vega who was also a single mother for most of her life. She was thankful for raising up a great, responsible and loving father, who she also considers one of her heroes, Jorge Amezcua.
In conclusion, we want to give a special thanks to everyone who came out to the event, everyone who helped and donated. Transforme is still accepting donations. For more info, please contact us at transforme.inc@gmail.com
We can’t wait to see you all again next year!
